For their tenth anniversary, Lucidflow return to physical media with a value packed slice of wax. Klartraum and co-owner Nadja Lind feature, alongside production behemoth D. Diggler, Klartraum partner Helmut Ebritsch and special guest slot for returning artist Spettro.
Nadja leads off at full tilt with a high energy workout on ‘Holistic Kit’, teaming tumbling drums with sci-fi synths and poignant key changes. With high tempo techno and the return of synth led music being a key theme from 2018, this is absolutely on the money. Pairing with the usually rambunctious D. Digger, ‘Mekong Delta’ is more contemplative. Named after the Vietnamese region, the track is as hypnotically undulating as the river that runs through it.
Then, joining up with fellow Lucidflow co-owner Helmut Ebritsch, ‘Weltenwandler’ is a typical Klartraum workout. Ocean deep, the key aspect to lock on to here is the rising and falling dub chord that underpins the track. It goes from a supporting rhythmic tone to lynchpin of the evolving melody which creeps in sneakily as the track evolves. Finishing off the release is ‘Lunch With Kerri’ from Spettro. The Little Helpers and Get Physical artist returns to Lucidflow with a particularly on point piece of jazz flecked broken down techno. Full of energy, it is a crackling highlight, and a little taster of what is to come from this artist on Lucidflow in the near future.
Nadja Lind’s high flying 2017 continues with pace. A busy studio schedule is paired with heading up the Lucidflow imprint, punctuated with countless journeys to perform DJing duties around the globe. There is no rest for the wicked, though, as she takes up position on Lucidflow release #143 with a sweet and effective three tracker.
While obviously known for her heavy dub leanings in both a production and A&R capacity, we forget the debt owed to the precision house techniques as made popular by esteemed sources such as the Perlon and [a:rpia:r] imprints. On ‘Teufelssee’, we get to see this to full effect, all spun through Nadja’s keen eye for dancefloor rocking beats.
The title track leads by example, every staccato element intricately placed and generating movement through the subtle shifts in emphasis – be it the near mechanical churn of the bassline, the off-kilter circuit bent effects or the layering of percussive elements.
Going up a notch in intensity, ‘Kobold’ goes full throttle with a two minute stuttering percussive intro. From there, we drop into some mutant funk with whip cracking finger snaps. It’s a wild ride – part madcap dash through a city with sirens blaring, part death defying ghost house rollercoaster.
Finishing off, ‘Unwesen’ uses lullaby melodies that flourishes into a fountain of emotion, providing a fitting send off for the release. It’s a perfect track for an after the storm moment, releasing tension and rubbing sore muscles in all the right places.
Hitting the racks on 16th October 2017, make sure you get on board with this.

Lucidflow make a ninth journey onto wax with label co-owner Nadja Lind’s ‘Tribe Dub’, and no punches have been pulled with the array of top drawer remixers on board featuring Brendon Moeller, Tigerskin & Jack Jenson, and Terry Lee Brown Junior – plus an additional digital only remix from Brendon Moeller in Beat Pharmacy guise. Nadja’s original fires on all cylinders with a frantic sub-bass assault that isn’t going to be happy unless your lungs have been thoroughly bruised by a main room’s speaker stack. As the bass tumbles, phasing dub stabs gracefully arc into the stratosphere and back again. Production veteran Brendon Moeller steps up first on the mix with an interpretation that plays on the dancing dub elements of the original. A bare percussive anchor runs through the track allowing the rest of the elements to waltz around it in a shimmying and synchronised display. As Beat Pharmacy, Brendon goes straight for the techno jugular, rolling out crackling hi-hats and a straighter groove that stretches out like taut elastic. Usually present under the Dub Taylor guise, Tigerskin adopts his main identity in tandem with Jack Jenson to bring a bit of dreaminess to the dance floor thunder of the original. Here, the elements are whispered, like the hush of walking out on a first light and frost covered morning. As the frozen pads thaw out, you emerge from the countryside into the hustle and bustle of the city, with apt field samples layering over the subtle and insistent groove. Plastic City head honcho Terry Lee Brown Jnr is given the task of tackling Nadja’s stellar ‘Ignore And Block’. Like Tigerskin & Jack Jenson before it, the theme here is frozen melodies over precisely deployed percussion. Anyone familiar with his work will immediately find them at home in the deep-but-tech groove laid out over the track. Coming out in 2017, the release will surface on smouldering orange marbled vinyl.
