♫ Happy birthday to Nadja’s album, happy birthday to you, We have another little present, it is remix package number two. ♫
Lucidflow have some more sweeties for your grey matter from the grand Brain Candy remix project. 22nd October may almost be upon us but that is no reason not to squeeze out another little taster for you and your respective dancefloors to sample (and enjoy massively). This time the triple-A roster of producers on remix duty are the rather excellent D.Diggler, Paul Loraine and Yapacc.
D. Diggler takes on the gentle dub edged bliss of Limbus and twists off in the opposite direction entirely. His tough tribal tech sound is unleashed in full force, the hypnotic rumble and shimmying rhythms causing your muscles to unconsciously twitch and flex.
Paul Loraine’s interpretation of Limbus has already been picked up for the Transitions radio show, hosted by relative newcomer to the scene – Johnathan Digglesworth. John Digsbury? … John Digweed! Yeah, I’ve not heard of him either but I’m told he is pretty ok. Joking aside, Mr Digweed has obviously spotted Paul’s talent for creating kick drums that seem to contain the entire EU’s yearly allocation of sub-bass. This just provides a deep canvas for dub chatter to reverberate around the track, along with delicate flourishes of synths.
Yapacc is tasked with working some magic with the urgent and tense tech of Sorry Books. The result is pretty similar to Harry Potter having a fight with Gandalf in some sort of “who has the most awesome?” showdown. A truly cosmic journey that deserves to be experienced for the full ten and a half minute duration, and not a second less. An audio delight featuring layers of twinkling guitar arpeggios, little flashes of live percussive flair and a progression so fluid that it washes around your ear canals with giddy abandon. One for the emotional.
The remixes just keep getting better, and everyone is a winner in this scenario.

DCD019 – From Dub Till Lucid Dawn – Finest Selection of Dub Techno, Deep Tech House and Electronic

From Dub Till Lucid Dawn now on Beatport.Endeavouring to make your trip the most hypnotic magical moment in your life, our cabin crew—manned by the highly able Klartraum, Trentemøller, Rene Breitbarth, Fluxion, Dub Taylor, H-Foundation, Hatikvah, Helmut Ebritsch, Nico Purman, Marko Fürstenberg, Nadja Lind and G-Man, amongst others—will be on hand to fluff your bass pillows and blanket you in deep textures, before dropping you off directly onto the beach in time for the sunrise.

While most people in the Dub Techno world seem to be more concerned with creating the aural equivalent of Jupiter in your front room, Lucidflow like to show that they have a solid bedrock once you puff away all the dense layers of gas and cloud.
Rather than purely being like the ominous and oppressive gas giant, From Dub Till Lucid Dawn is more like being firmly planted on a beach facing the ocean, watching the waves move like a graphic equaliser in front of you as the dark night sky gradually colours with the sunrise.
As you can tell, Dub Techno can be perceived as a two dimensional beast at times. Lucidflow have taken great steps to show that there are many nuances in what is one of the more mysterious of electronic genres.
Helly Larson & Riccicomoto slink out a Jazz flecked groove with Bronco Del Noche, gently caressing you up high with the lightest keys while the bass warms your core.
Nadja Lind, Lucidflow co-owner and the expert hands behind the two DJ mixes included with the compilation, appears in many forms over the compilation, but in particularly spectacular fashion with the little box of magic crafted out of Universal Language’s Dub Sessions 1. Happily pitching around the octaves with little care, it toys with your sanity in the most delightful way.
Keeping with the subtle touch, Dub Taylor breaks through the usual Dub atmosphere with muted 909 hats. Crisp enough to widen the eyes, yet never letting you snap out of a hypnotic trance.
Keeping you in this state is key, something Rene Breitbarth demonstrates on the remix of Siz Da’s Staub der Zeit. Held notes build a sense of tension and little “HEY!” shouts push you on into a state where you will be begging for release.
Dub Techno veteran Fluxion is represented with a superb remix of Zentex’s Tahu, a gentle cosmic communication of cosmic blips and textures that hug you around the ears.
For those who want those little gear shifting moments that raise the pulse, the full fat sub bass kick of Marko Fürstenberg’s Without You takes one step towards this goal. Continuing to put one foot in front of the other, Tech House mainstay G-Man bangs synths together with Nadja Lind on the harmonic churn of CatNap. Taking you up to the full gallop is Nico Purman’s Cuidad De Nubes, a Progressive flecked touch tugging at the heartstrings.
Possibly one of the most commanding entries in the compilation is Trentemoller’s remix of DJosos Krost’s Chapter One. The most intriguing soundclash of Acid and Dub, Jah Bobby’s vocal ringing out over the top.
No Lucidflow compilation would be complete without a Klartraum entry and there are a few to take a pick from; the toe to toe battle between Deep House and Dub that scraps it out on the Einklang Freier Frequenzen remix of Expect Me, or the huge doomy chords that gradually let the smallest chink of light through on Hatikvah’s remix of Shakes. And talking of Shakes, Nadja’s Klartraum partner Helmut Ebritsch gets his shake on with a muted aquatic re-rub of her track Hummingbird.
Last, and by no means least, some authentic downtempo Dub is represented with H-Foundation’s Slayin’ The Dragon, spicing it up somewhat with the sleaziest Jazz mood.
From Dub Till Lucid Dawn is a compelling case to take a little holiday on Lucidflow’s beach, with a tour of everything deep and dubby. Pack your bags and book your flight from your nearest digital audio travel agency.

Secret Life Of Machines has been part of my life as a very important album that inspired me to make music. It was a unique sounding album at the time and still today sounds fresh. Its a beautiful sound sculpture that takes its place in the realm of EDM Joel Mull, 2012 In June this year, STERAC aka Steve Rachmad reached back to the first album 100%% Pure ever released in 1995 – the classic milestone in the history of Detroit Techno ‘Secret Life of Machines’ and recreated it using the very same studio machines that he had owned back then. A composition of seven beautifully sultry tracks from the melodic techno flow of Axion to the sheer brilliance, beauty and soul of Astronotes each paving the way to the defining sound of ‘Secret Life of Machines’. The album received the same glorious feedback as it did 17 years before, with everyone blown away by its fresh, thrilling Detroit Techno futuristic flavours. To complement the timelessness and delicious smoothness of the remastered album, the European father of Detroit Techno then followed up with four brand new remixes, tailored to todays tempo and sound. They say good things come in threes which is why were now going to heat up the summer with The Remixes. Inspired by the remastered album and taking it as springboard for remix inspiration, well be welcoming the dance visions of Joel Mull, Heiko Laux, Marc Romboy, Klartraum, Nadja Lind and Samuel L Session in Part 1 and 2000 and One, Joris Voorn, Ricardo Villalobos, Christian Smith and Vince Watson in Part2. For Part 1 were oiling the dancefloors with some Techno fuel…

PRESS RELEASE (release date 8.8.2012)
Nadja Lind may be riding on the crest of the recent release of the Klartraum album Secret Moon, but this doesn’t mean there is any time to be resting on some considerable laurels. Nadja’s solo album from last year, Brain Candy, will be coming up for its one year anniversary on 22nd October 2012, and what better ways to celebrate this than to bake a cake, call in a selection of proven and quality producers for some remix duty, and get them to decorate the release with their various sparkly bits.

The Brain Candy remix roster reads like a who’s who in the techy and fluid House world: Hernan Cattaneo, UGLH, Helmut Ebritsch, Yapacc, D. Diggler, Sweet’ n Candy, Saytek, Ali Khan, Franco Bianco, G-Man, Dub Taylor, Trinity & Beyond, Paul Loraine, Blatancy, Steve Ward, Sasch BBC, Silky, Helly Larson, Markojux, Grünbox and Eddie Richards.

This emphatic scattering covers most of Nadja’s favourite producers, whose releases can be found punctuating her vinyl collection in the basement at Lucidflow HQ. There were actually rumours that they had all been locked in this basement, with basic rations, until the remix work was complete. Although the (slightly less sinister) reality was that they jumped at the opportunity with wide eyed glee! The result is practically an entire record collection all under one release.

Now, before you all drag out your sleeping bags and sit pressing F5 until the internet tells you that this release is available to buy, the first of many tasters is due to hit on 8th August 2012. An EP so delicious you can feel it inserting calories directly into your body via your eardrums: Brain Candy Remixes Part 1. Luckily, the material provides the perfect excuse to shake off any excess podge rolls.

A Choice, Limbus and The Preach see full fat interpretations from Helmut Ebritsch, Hernan Catteneo & Soundexile and UGLH.

The “dub with pump” that is A Choice (where the choice in question appears to be a rather straightforward “dance or dance?”) appears in original album form, with Klartraum partner-in-crime Helmut Ebritsch stepping in with a remix. Helmut’s touch gradually peels away the outer layers of dark dub, to reveal a sprightly centre of bright synths and micro vocal samples, all set to a heartbeat march of bass and beats.

Hernan Catteneo needs little introduction; his early beginnings with Perfecto branched out into appearances on Bedrock, Deep Dish’s Yoshitoshi offshoot Shinichi, all resulting in a residency at The Gallery @ Ministry Of Sound and electrifying production relationship with studio partner Soundexile. As long time supporters of Lucidflow, it was a perfect opportunity to lend their trademark light, melodic and flowing productions skills to Limbus, taking the introspective original and floating it through the skies.

UGLH pick up the baton by plucking this breathy groove out of the clouds, diving straight down underground and turning in an robotic disco funk remix of The Preach. It’s easily the sort of sound that the likes of Digweed use to shake basements like Fabric and his own Transitions series on regular occasion. With productions littering 8bit, Great Stuff, Noir Music, CR2, Monique Music, plus an existing remix of Klartraum’s Growth under their belts, maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised at the quality of UGLH’s waveforms. This is, unless, you are the sort of person who is surprised each day at grass being green and concrete being hard. If so, you are in for repeated treats.
Just to push you to full to bursting status, there is another chance to relive the original demented and twisted skip of The Preach, containing all those devilish noises your mother warned you about in six minutes of microcutting delirium.

Digest, enjoy and don’t accept semi-skimmed beats as an alternative, indulge in the naughty stuff.

Digest, enjoy and don’t accept semi-skimmed beats as an alternative, indulge in the naughty stuff.

press release:
As the world catches on to the music and live performances of Klartraum duo Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch, the pair look to the release of their deep yet wonderfully eclectic second album ‘Secret moon’…
Berlin based Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch have been working together for over five years now, but it is in the last twelve months that the duo’s Klartraum project has really come to prominence. Both Nadja & Helmut have a solid musical history recording for the likes of Darkroom Dubs, Soma & Morris Audio yet it is through their shared musical output that they have really captured the imagination, producing deep and moving electronic music that fuses elements of techno, house and electronica.
Out of the studio the duo have taken their sound on the road, performing as Klartraum live at London’s Fabric, the infamous Ukrainian festival Kazantip and Goa’s renowned Shanti club to rave reviews and rapturous response. In the coming months they will also be appearing at dates in Australia and across Europe.
‘Secret Moon’ is a rich and diverse collection of tracks that reflect Klartraum’s journey since the release of their debut LP, ‘Evolution’ in 2011. From the opening atmospheric ambient recording of ‘Berlin Intro’ it’s clear that this is not to be a straight-laced ‘club’ album but rather a body of work that ebbs and flows through styles and sounds with little regard for genre. Downtempo cuts such as the breakbeat based ‘Something Wrong’ or the off kilter ‘Universe’ add a depth and variety to the mix yet Klartraum’s production skill and musical sensibilities work to make the album work as a whole. There is a deep hypnotizing feel to this whole album, keeping you locked into the experience as the album progresses. Tracks such as the epic ‘Secret Moon’ and the sublime ‘Sell Your Soul’ have an almost cinematic feel to them; drawn out, spacious and mesmerizing. Klartraum’s 2011 debut was a real achievement but ‘Secret Moon’ takes things to the next level with a strength and energy that is tempered with an audible maturity of production.
Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch have their own way of creating music, making much of both their spiritual leanings and their hands of approach to ‘jamming’ out tracks live. Whatever it is that drives them it certainly works, for Klartraum are rapidly becoming an act that cannot ignored, making great music and taking it to the world via their passionate live performance. Long may it last!

Terje Saether – Lucidflow

http://www.beatport.com/release/breed/848643

ResidentAdvisor Review :

You can never have enough Norwegians called Terje making dance music, can you? Rather than cosmic disco, this Terje makes house with a techno underbelly (rather than the other way around).

The dubby lead track “Breed” is built around skeletal percussion and tough synth stabs. It’s the sort of record Hipp-E and Halo would have made if they had transplanted to Europe at the height of their career. And at ten minutes plus, it’s a great comfort break tune for the DJ whose helped himself to too much of the promoter’s champagne. The first of the Klartraum remixes decorates it with a snappy percussive tech groove and purring bassline. “The Ripper” is a more strident, bouncy affair—albeit with an emotive piano breakdown—although with that extra urgency is lost some of the atmosphere that hangs above “Breed.”

There are hints of breakbeat in the 4/4 spacey tech-disco assault of “Full Focus,” with its Balearic piano-style middle-eighth. Klartaum then take a warm, fuzzy deep house segment of the original “Full Focus” and wrap it in a cotton wool blanket of techno, that ebbs and swells like the tide—but it’s that original that elbows its way to the front of your consciousness of an EP of rich promise.

All three tracks are great, but dignity would be the pick out of the bunch for me. Perfect low slung grooves with with the signature tight percussion that Klartraum are well recognised for. Its deep, but carries enough energy to roll along nicely. Lenny is fantastic, and demonstrates a sound which is so hard to pin down in this day and age. It is musical in its essence, tight locked groove with fantastic layering of melody and vocal snippets. Push Yourself is bouncy as F**K. This is a weapon of a tune to make the dance floor shuffle 10/10 for this release. I will definitely be playing and charting this ep Well done guys, for creating such a great sound which is a pleasure to play out and make people dance cheers Matt :)” (will chart)

Da Funk: “great e.p. agaon! all tracks playable.and thats what i’m gonna do!”

Matt Gatt (): “Dignity by far has been the standout release for Klartraum. It pretty much defines their sound in my opinion. That sound being of the deep and stripped back variety but still maintaining a constant groove which only Klartraum can provide with clinical precision. I sometimes get very sceptical with remixes of very very good originals, but both Grunbox and Nadja have done this track justice. Grünbox provides the funky tribal percussion to perfection. Nadja’s remix is the pick out of the bunch for me. Her trademark stripped back bubbly percussion works so well and emphasises the deep flowing melody which was the essential ingredient to this tracks success. Seriously this is an essential tune, which will definitely never leave my record box for a long long time to come 10/10 for this release :)” (will chart)

Paul Loraine (Lucidflow, Four:Twenty, Akbal): “Yes yes yes and another YES! all 3 tracks here are great for me if I was being given a Chinese burn and I had to tell you a favourite then the Grunbox remix it would have to be purely for the audacity of such a crazy and PHAT remix… Lucidflow thank you x” (will chart)

Arjun Vagale / Jalebee Cartel (Ostwind, ALiVE, Variante, Tribal Rage): “Grunbox remix is super”

Eddie Merced (): “I’m groovin over here with Grunbox remix :D, solid remix from Grunbox. On the other hand, i love Nadja’s remix approach to Dignity it’s dark, twisted, and trippy…it’s like a mystical voyage to a dark world, full of unknown wonders – my type of material 😀 ”

Onur Özman (Rebirth, Night Drive, Onethirty, Clubstar): “A conscious breaker remix from Nadja Lind. Will play it.”

Qmusse (Reisei Records, Loco records ): “Grunbox remix is groovy! Very nice track. Gracias!” (will chart)

Evren Ulusoy (I Records,Plastic City,Loco): “nadja s one doing it for me.Thanks !”

Matt: “Very nice!!”

Where the Klartraum original swells up and absorbs you, Grunbox’ remix catches you on a high and slams you straight into the thick of the action. With horns that are half locomotive and half ancient the track is both mechanical and tribal. Propelled by frenzied cow bell bashing it makes for an unhinged dance floor work out.
Nadja reimagines the Klartraum work with a typically spacious, smooth piece of industrial techno. The track’s devils are in the details, tiny pulses build into a lurching, kaleidoscopic rhythm, peppering the bleak soundscape with flecks of colour while allowing the drums to pummel mercilessly beneath.

Carlos Sanchez (Supernature / 8bit) (DJ Carlos Sanchez): “whole ep is fantastic! nadja remix is my fav! thanks :-)”
Matt Gatt (): “Drunken Divine is a great piece of work. Demonstrates the brilliance of Lucidfow as a whole in how they bring the swing within a genre which can be generally conformed to productions which are too calculated and constrained. This track is deep and low slung. Perfect warm up material Deep Invitation using its off kilter percussive arrangement and melancholic chords provides a great ride throughout. Structure is fantastic, creating passages where you can mix and layer effortlessly which is essential quality I look for in all productions Paul Lorraine showcases an absolute corker of a remix. Low slung locked grooves marinated in bubbling fx and bass stabbs. Paul has been a great signing to the Lucidflow stable, and he certainly demonstrates why here Nadja’s remix definitely focuses on the marriage between dark and light passage of sounds. Crazy dark bongo styled rhythms begin this journey until the breakdown which opens up to blissful tones and great spoken word samples and carries on throughout the whole track CDT’s take on drunken divine would have to be the most stripped back affair out of the lot at first. Then out of nowhere he creates a broken beat masterpiece with juggling drum patterns and swirling melodies. Great work here. I think they are all equally great productions, but if I had to pick one track that would have to be Drunken Divine. Thanks again Lucidflow for consistently providing great music time and time again cheers Matt ” (will chart)

G-Man & Nadja Lind
‘G-Catz EP’
Lucidflow
LF022
Revered electronic music veteran Gez Varley AKA G-Man teams up with Lucidflow label boss and Klartraum producer Nadja Lind for a superb 4 track EP of stripped organic techno come house….
Gez Varley AKA G-Man has been a key player on the electronic music scene for over20 years, recording as LFO in the late eighties and early nineties for Warp and going on to build a solo career recording forthelikesofForce Inc, K7, Wir and ofcoursehis own GMR Records. Varley became acquainted with Lucidflow label owner and Klartraum producer, Nadja Lind when she recently took on remix duties for the G-Man classic ‘El Jem’. The two hit it off musically and a collaboration was soon on the cards, leading to the recordings of this first EP, entitled ‘G-Catz’ (apparently the pair are both big fans of feline company).
The EP opens up with the wonderfully heady ‘Purr’, a stripped yet organic sounding slice of techno that is reminiscent of classic Basic Channel. A subtle pulsing loop runs over taught percussion and swirling FX creating a deep hypnotic vibe that is truly sublime.
Next up we continue the cat the medtitling with the excellent ‘Meow’, a tightly produced piece of techno/house fusion that builds a solid groove around tough drums,‘purring’ keystabs and monophonic bass, simple, understated and quite brilliant.
The third cut sees Varley and Lind deliver the brilliant ‘CatNap’, a beautifully paced piece of rolling deep techno that uses subtlety and restraint to produce a marvelous piece of electronica that has a tripped out, heads down feel.
To finish things off the duo turn a little darker with ‘Ball of Fur’, a mesmerizing piece of techno with a slightly menacing air, yet the same deft touch of production that makes this whole EP so outstanding, pure quality!
Apparently Varley and Lind have another EP in the pipeline, and if this is anything to go by then we are truly in for a further treat. These recordings were all written and recorded remotely, with the two producers bouncing tracks back and forth between their respective studios, but it is clear that there’s a real musical chemistry here; long may it last!
‘G-Catz’ by G-Man & Nadja Lind is released on Lucidflow on 9th September 2011.

Making A Difference EP

LF017 – Nadja Lind and Paul Loraine – Making A Difference by lucidflow

Fresh off the back of their “Eat The Frog” EP,
which found great support from the likes of
Funk D’Void, Seth Troxler and Maceo Plex.
Lucidflow chief Nadja Lind again teams up
with UK producer Paul Loraine on “Making
A Difference”. A track that will see them
confidently build on the success of their first
release.
Less is most definitely more on “Making A
Difference”. A kick drum and snare rule the first
half, until the throb of the bass synth a slight
vocal, creatively change the dynamic.
From one label boss to the other. As fellow
Lucidflow owner Helmut Ebritsch lends his
magical touch. Harnessing the power of that
synth, Ebritsch creates a real warmth. Assisted
in no small part by the precious droplets of his
piano melody.
A stunning offering from the Lucidflow trio and
a strong addition to an impressive and rapidly
swelling roster of the releases.

Essential warm up material Will definitely be playing both versions out 10/10 for me 🙂 cheers Matt Gatt” (will chart)
